EFFORT FOR POLITICAL UNITY. HOPES OF SATISFACTORY OUTCOME. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Though there is still no major development to report in the conversations that have been proceeding between the Government and the Opposition, with the object of achieving unity in directing the Dominion’s war effort, it is felt that some result may be expected in the near future. It is"pointed out in the Parliamentary lobbies that the completion of a move of this kind requires more time and consideration than many might expect, and it must not be thought that the delay that has occurred indicates in any way a deadlock. One thing which has led observers to form the opinion thpt unity is in sight is the generally conciliatory tone of the speeches in the Financial Debate. This has been noticeable on both sides of the House, where members have contented themselves in the main with dealing with various aspects of the war effort and have largely refrained from ventilating purely party arguments.
