VEHICLES DAMAGED
COLLISION AT WAINGAWA. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY. An accident in which a lorry and two cars were involved occurred on the Masterton-Carterton main highway, at Waingawa at 5.45 o’clock last night. Although the cars were extensively damaged none of the occupants were injured. Constable R. J. Berry, Masterton. was called to the scene and made investigations. In a statement made to the police. Mr R. S. Tyacke, lorry driver. of Masterton, stated that he had backed his lorry into a gateway on the eastern side of the highway about 300 yards south of the road into the Freezing Works, and was engaged in unloading sheep when the front of the lorry was struck by a touring car driven by Mr L. Stimpson. also of Masterton. travelling towards Carterton. Mr Stimpson's car skidded 23 feet and. overturned, being struck by a car driven by Mr I. R. Maxwell-Stewart, of Wellington, who was travelling towards Masterton.
