A meeting of the Green and Gold Ball Committee was held on Monday evening, when after a long discussion, It was unanimously resolved to abandon the ball this year. This step was taken on account of the unsettled conditions and to the fact that the only date available was late in September. In order that this branch may participate in the efforts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church) to contribute funds for patriotic purposes it was decided that a donation out of the funds be made and remitted to the headquarters in Auckland. It may be pointed out that the president of the church (President Fowley) had recommended to the various social committees concerned, approximately 30. that all net proceeds from each Gold and Green Ball, be given to patriotic purposes. In conformity with that direction the local committee has decided to make the donation as the result of the cancellation of the ball. Outlet of Lake Closed. The outlet of the Lake is closed.
