FEATHERSTON
RIVER BOARD MEETING LAKE DRAINING SCHEME. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the South Wairarapa River Board there were present Messrs R. A. Donald (chairman), R. W. Matthews, G. R. Colman. W. H. Martin, T. A. Herrick. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. Linton and A. H. Ashdown. A credit balance of £2BO was reported. Accounts amounting to £252 14s 6d were passed for payment. The board endorsed action of the chairman in having repairs carried out at the Turanganui River. It was resolved that no reduction in rent could be made to A. H. Warren The engineer ,Mr H. F. Toogood) was present, and reported on a comprehensive proposal for draining the Wairarapa Lake area. The report was approved and is to be forwarded to the Public Works Department for consideration. Basketball and Football. The Featherston A. and B. basketball teams and also boys’ football team visited Greytown yesterday afternoon. The basketball results were: Featherston B 18. Greytown B 13; Featherston A 11, Greytown A 11. Grey town won the football by 11 points to 5.
