That by 9 o'clock on the morning after the loss of the Niagara 12 dozen toothbrushes had been distributed to survivors from the vessel was mentioned by Mr E. J. Dyson at a meeting of the National Service Movement, Auckland. It was one of a wide variety of tasks undertaken by the organisation to assist in meeting the emergency which showed the awareness of members to practical needs of the moment. This had also been shown in the immediate compilation of the actual sizes and types of clothing requ i red.
