NEW TAXES

LEGISLATION READY FOR PRESENTATION. NATIONAL SECURITY IMPOST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. It is probable that the taxing Bills necessary to give effect to the Budget provisions will be introduced in the House of Representatives very soon. The Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, said in an interview last night that the Bills were ready for presentation and, though he could not say definitely, it was likely that they would make their appearance during the week. The Minister said the provision for the Is in the pound wages tax for national security would probably operate from the week following the passing of the Bill, and added that it had not yet been decided whether special legislation would be necessary to set in motion the machinery for the compulsory loan. This might possibly, be done under the emergency regulations. Mr Nash said there was no more major legislation planned for the immediate future at any rate.
