BRITAIN AS THE BULWARK OF DEMOCRACY. 'MESSAGE FROM URUGUAY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July G. Mr Churchill has received from Senor Jose Serrato, president of the pro-Allies committee in Uruguay, a message expressing profound faith in the destinies of democracy, of which the British Empire is today the principal bulwark. The British nation, the message stated, is “the hope of humanity and the trustee of the faith of the civilised 'world.”
