HOUSES DESTROYED

IN GERMAN BOMBING RAID NUMBER OF PERSONS KILLED IN ENGLAND. ENEMY FIGHTER SHOT DOWN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY. July 7. The Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security announce that there was further enemy activity near the Channel coast this afternoon, but our anti-aircraft defences were active and no important attacks developed. Some houses were destroyed and some casualties, including a number of persons killed, were caused by bombs which fell in West Country coastal districts. An enemy fighter was shot down off our coasts this afternoon by antiaircraft fire.
