A report comes from, that area today stating that nearly 1,000,000 gallons of crude oil are at present in storage, after only a few months’ work with modern plant installed by the National Oil Proprietary, which was given extensive rights, privileges and protection by the former Lyons Government. Present production is at the rate of 15,000 gallons of crude oil daily, bu' when certain additional machinery units are in operation the output is estimated. to grow to 45,000 gallons yielding at least 35,000 gallons of standard petrol daily. The industry is in a wilderness, flanked by very high cliffs. . , , The whole undertaking is regarded as one of great national importance in Australia’s defence.
