POLES IN SYRIA
ATTEMPTING TO BREAK OUT IN ORDER TO JOIN BRITISH IN PALESTINE. SKIRMISHES REPORTED BY GERMANS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) BERLIN, July 5. The radio stated that further skirmishes are in progress in Syria between French and Polish units, the latter of which are attempting to break out in order to join the British in Palestine. ATTACK ON MALTA ITALIANS USE MACHINE-GUNS. (Received This Day. 10.30 a.m.) MALTA, July 5. Italian planes, flying low, used ma-chine-guns when they raided Malta this morning. There were no casualties and no damage was done.
