The increased importance at the present time of the work of the Plunket Society was emphasised at the annual meeting of the Christchurch branch by Dr A. C. Sandston. "At all times the saving of children and the rearing of healthy children is of immense benefit to the nation,” said Dr Sandston. “However, faced as we are with the slaughter of so many of our young people, it is even more necessary to save babies and rear healthy children. For this reason, public support of the society must be maintained and increased.” The usual fortnightly dance and card tournaments arranged under the auspices of the Masterton Hibernian Society will be held in St. Patrick's Hall on Wednesday next (July 10). Good supper and prizes will be provided. The music for the dancing will be supplied by J. Barnes’ Rhythm Boys.
