Messrs Tanner and Lutherus, Wellington, are at the Hotel Midland, Masterton.
The death occurred at Pahiatua yesterday of Mr William Brown, a wellknown settler of Mangatainoka, at the age of 70 years.
The many friends of Mr Dave Hutcheson will be sorry to hear that he has found it necessary to enter the Masterton Public Hospital for treatment.
Captain C. N. Devery, D.C.M., New Zealand Temporary Staff, has been appointed Assistant Adjutant-General, Central Military District, and promoted to the rank of major.
Mr W. Calder Mackay has been elected to the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to fill the vacancy caused by the departure of Mr 11. W. Shove to take up the post of overseas commissioner in general charge of Y.M.C.A. work for the New Zealand Forces.
The funeral of the late Mrs D. E. Hutchinson took place yesterday, the Rev Father Dillon officiating at St Patrick's Church and at the graveside. Messrs V. Gooding, J. Price, Senr., J. Price, Junr., C. M. McLachlan, W. Robinson and G. Enright acted as pall-bearers.
