BUSH BASKETBALL DRAW FOR TOURNAMENT. (“Times-Age" Special.) Twenty-two teams have entered for the Bush Basketball Association’s tournament to be held in the Pahiatua Drill Hall on Saturday night, the proceeds of which will be donated to a Patriotic Fund. The draw for the tournament is as follows: — Girls' Section (Two Life). First round: Eketahuna v. Stars B; Hukanui v. W.F.C.A. B; Stars A v. McDuff's; Konini B v. Athletic; Konini A v. W.F.C.A. A; Hamua v. W.F.C.A. C; Tuis A a bye; Veterans a bye. Men's Division (Knockout). Eketahuna v. Konini; Hukanui v. Pahiatua; Hamua v. W.F.C.A.; Athletic v. High School Old Boys. The games will commence at 6.30 p.m., but all players must be at the Fire Station at 6.15 p.m. for the parade. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES CARD TOURNAMENT. ' The Eketahuna Friendly Societies’ card tournament was continued, last night. The Odd Fellows continued on their winning way by defeating the Fire Brigade by 28 games to 16. The Druids just managed to head the Foresters by 16 games to 14. The Odd Fellows are as yet unbeaten, having scored 8 points. The Druids are next with 6 points, the Fire Brigade have scored 2 points and the Foresters have yet to open their winning account. SHOP DAY SUCCESSFUL EFFORT. A'shop day in aid of the Fire Brigade candidate (Baby Page) in the Baby Carnival, was held yesterday and the effort was most successful, the large stock of cakes and produce finding ready buyers. With only a little over a week to go the interest in the Baby Contest is being well maintained. The crowning ceremony will take place at a dance to be held in the Town Hall. Before the termination of the carnival the Fire Brigade and Civil Servants will meet on the football field. The carnival has been marked by a friendly spirit between the rival camps and the efforts of each will no doubt result in a substantial sum being raised for local patriotic purposes. GOLF CLUB SOUTHEY CUP COMPETITION. The following is the draw for the third round of the Southey Cup competition to be played in conjunction with a medal round on Saturday:—R. Dickson v. Liardet; J. Dickson v. Bradley: Murray v. Fordyce; Simmers v. Higginson; V. Anderson v. Pryde: Greathead v. Henderson; Marenzi v. Rigden; Quinlivan v. D. Fraser; West v. B. Anderson: Christie v. Mcßride: Hornblow v. Ravden; Niederer v. H. Walton; Duffil v. Page; Richardson a bye. A mixed Canadian foursome will be played on Sunday, commencing at 1.30 p.m.
