The following are the results of I games played in the Pahiatua Drill Hall on Monday evening:—Eketahuna 18 defeated Konini B 15; Tuis 29, defeated Stars B, 9; United 23, defeated Hamua. 19; Konini A 22, defeated Stars A, 18. r , The draw for games next Monday evening are: —Eketahuna v United, 6.30 p.m.; Stars A v Konini B, 7.15 p.m.; Hamua v Tuis, 8 p.m.; Hukanui v Stars B. 8.45 p.m.; Konini A a bye. RED CROSS MEETING AT NIREAHA The weekly lesson of the Nireaha branch of the Red Cross Society on first aid, given by Dr E. M. Simmers, was well attended, the subject being “Poisons and Their Actions.” The next I weekly evening will be the last of the ■ first aid series, after which it is probable that a course of home nursingwill be taken by members. LADIES’ GOLF BOGEY ROUND DRAW. • The following is the draw for the first bogey round in the Southey Cup competition to be played on Saturday by lady members of the Eketahuna Golf Club (play will commence at 1.30 p.m.):—Mrs Mcßride v Mrs Higginson, Miss P. Herbert v Biss A. Simmers, Miss E. O’Donnell v Miss L. McCowan. Anyone -unable to play please ring Miss W. Dickson, ’phone No 152. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAIPARORO. The monthly meeting of the Kaiparoro Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon at Mrs McAnulty's residence. Mrs Burton presided over a large number of members and visitors. Miss White gave an interesting talk on a trip to the Dutch East Indies and Singapore. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. During the afternoon, presentation'were made to Miss Vera Welch and Miss Enid Dick in view of their approaching marriages. Small presentations were also made to two othei brides-to-be, Miss Nancy McAnulty and Miss Avis Whiteman. The monthly competitions were won as follow: Scones. Mrs Jim Dick 1. MisA. Dick 2. Hot-water bag cover. Miss A. Dick 1. Mrs Jim McAnulty 2. The besl flower was won by Mrs McAnulty Senior with Mrs Burton second. A game competition was won by Mist White with Mrs Simpson second. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs McAnulty and Miss McAnulty. Baby Carnival. The following is the result of the weekly count for the Baby carnival: —Civil Servants, 12,840 votes; Fire Brigade 12.720 votes. Card Tourney. There was a moderate attendance at the weekly card tournament held by the Nireaha Football Club. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs J. Spring J, Mrs S. R. Blewett, consolation; men, Mr J. P. Petersen 1. Mr T. F. Edge consolation. Personals. Mr and Mrs Watson Pryde. Nireaha, arc holidaying with relatives at Waita ra. Mr and Mrs J. B. O'Neil and family, Nireaha. are visiting Tauranga. Mrs Syd. Bell. Greytown, has returned home after spending a few days with her sister. Mrs W. Thomason. Mr C. Burr, Nireaha. has returned from the Pahiatua Public Hospital, where he was an inmate for 10 days. Mr and Mrs G. Brown, Nireaha, are on their annual vacation. Mr Albertson. Palmerston North, is the guest of his sister. Mrs J. P. Petersen, Atea. Messrs J. Goodall and N. Scott, of Salt Beach, Warkworth. are the guests of Mr and Mrs F. Schormann. Parkville.
