INVESTMENT SOCIETY BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the sixty-seventh annual meeting of shareholders of the Permanent Investment and Loan Association of Wairarapa. held in Greytown, the chaii - man of directors. Mr W. A. Tate, presided. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr Tate stated that the year's operations had been most satisfactory, and he referred to the advantages and protection shareholders had enjoyed over a long period of years. The first issue of shares in the association had matured 56 years ago. and the 112th issue of share would mature in a month. This represented unbroken issues and maturing ol shares half-yearly for 56 years. Further. throughout the association’s existence. the association, whether in times of depression or when protected by legislation, had nevertheless always promptly paid depositors of moneys on due date. The association was proud of this record. Mr Tate counselled continued caution in administration, especially in these vital days to the Empire. The retiring directors (Messrs Alfred Caselberg (Masterton), and J. Carnc Bidwill (Pihautea, Featherston) were re-elected directors. The association’s auditors, Messrs Mark Maxton (Greytown) and G. W. Sellar .F.P.A. (N.Z.). F.I.C.A. (Master* ton), were re-appointed auditors at the same remuneration as last year. The amount due on loans to the association at the closing of the annual accounts was £89,266 Is 7d. and the amount held on deposits was £51,415. Mr Tate pointed out that, with the ex-, ception of £250, all the deposits were for terms of two years. A vote of thanks for faithful services' was passed to the directors and to the manager (Mr W. J. Knell) staff and agents. PLUNKET SOCIETY BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Greytown Plunket Society was held in the Plunket rooms on Monday evening. Mrs R. G. Vile occupied the chair. Others present were Mesdames Maddison, Kiernan. Horton, Gregor, Everitt, Stevens, Richards, Burns, Nicholls, Anker and Bunny. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Wiggins and Bayliss. Accounts amounting to £24 19s 6d were passed. The treasurer j reported a credit balance of £54 14s 6d at the bank. The Greytown Town Lands Trust wrote forwarding its annual grant of £lO, for which a letter of thanks is to be sent. Mrs Barnard, who is leaving the district, wrote tendering her resignation, which was accepted with regret. Mr J. Kiernan was elected to fill the vacancy on the Advisory Board, subject to his approval. GOLF DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The draw for an L.G.U. medal round to be played on Saturday by the ladies at Greytown is as follows: —Miss M. Collier v Miss B. Gregor 12.10 p.m.; Mrs Thompson v Mrs Horner 12.13; Miss Nix v Miss Booth 12.16; Mrs Gregor v Miss Dorgan 12.19; Miss P. Tully v Miss Ellmers 12.22; Miss M. Skeet v Miss Kiernan 12.25; Miss E. Gregor v Mrs Gold 12.28; Mrs G. Ingley v Miss Eccles 12.31; Mrs Huntley v Miss M. Wood 12.34; Mrs C. Ingley v Miss R. Collier 12.37; Miss B. Feast v J. Feast 12.40; Mrs Maddison v Mrs R. Ingley 12.43. The following will play nine holes commencing at No 7: —Mrs Dunnett v Miss Reading 12.10; Mrs Wiggins v Miss Wiggins 12.13: Miss A. Feast v Miss McPhee 12.16; Miss Harding v Mrs Stuart 12.19; Mrs Nicholson v Miss E. Ingley 12.22; Miss B. Sheddon v Mrs Clark 12.25; Mrs Stevens v Another 12.28. Any junior starting later than the above times to commence at No 1. A medal round will be played on Saturday and handicaps adjusted to conform with the new lay out of the course. Play will commence at 1.15 p.m. Vital Statistics. The vital statistics registered at Greytown for the month of June were: Births 7, marriages 1, deaths 1. Rainfall. The rainfall in June was 1.72 inches.
