IHURAUA
WOMEN’S DIVISION (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a splendid attendance at a meeting of ladies held at the residence of Mrs C. R. Judd, Ihuraua, on Saturday last, under the auspices of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union when Mrs E. H. Dagg presided. A bring and buy stall did brisk business. The rest of the afternoon was spent in sewing and knitting for the refugee children and the Red Cross Society. Thirty-five finished garments were donated and many instructive suggestions were made for future meetings. It is hoped to hold the next meeting at Tikitapu in about a month’s time. Soldier Entertained. The settlers gathered in the Ihuraua Valley Hall to bid farewell to Private F. W. Welch. Although Private Welch has not resided in the district for several years he is a member of a pioneer family and the large attendance testified to his popularity. Mr Thos Dunn, on making a presentation to Private Welch wished the guest a safe return on behalf of the settlers of the Ihuraua and Mauriceville districts. Private Welch suitably replied. Among those present were members of the Mauriceville County Council and visitors from Masterton, Mauriceville, Eketahuna and Alfredton.
The music for dancing was supplied by Barnes' Rhythm Boys.
