WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM WEEKEND GOLF. ("Times-Age” Special.) The return match between the Pirinoa and Rototawai Golf clubs was played at Rototawai at the weekend. The match resulted in a win for the visitors by one game. The weather was cold and showery. Fourball matches were played. Collins and Hornabrook, who were matched against Hume and McMaster, were too good for the visitors top men. The following were the results (home players mentioned first in each case): —Collins and Hornabrook beat Hume and McMaster; Cameron and Feast beat Stewart and McLeod; O’Neale and Griffiths lost to J. Riwai and M. Herangi; W. Pope and Elbe beat G. Sutherland and M. Waiwera; Mrs Hornabrook and Mrs Collins lost to S. Chapman and D. Tikao; Juno and Playle lost to Thomas and Carter; Pearce and Barton lost to Didsbury arid Chatteris. In the ladies’ contest the visitors failed to win a match. The weather was bitterly cold, although fine for the concluding round of the Campbell Golf Cup. As a result there were only a few players on the links. The trophy was won by M. Hume. GUN CLUB TO CEASE OPERATIONS. The South Wairarapa Gun Club has decided to discontinue its operations until the end of the war. A sum of £1 Is has .been donated to the Red Cross Funds, and approximately £25 free of interest is to be lent to the Government for the duration of the war. Red Cross Fund. The Golf and Tennis clubs have donated £3 3s and £1 Is respectively to the Red Cross Funds. Personal Items. Mrs Toko Te Maari has entered the Masterton Hospital for treatment. Mr and Mrs J. Duggan Junr., entertained a large number of friends on Saturday evening. Music and songs helped to pass away the time most enjoy ably. Heavy Fall of Snow. The weather at the weekend was bitterly cold. A heavy fall of snow was experienced on Sunday night and the high levels are now covered with snow.
