FORTY BOMBERS
AND 160 SPITFIRES PRESENTED TO BRITAIN BY COLONIES. NOW READY TO TAKE THE AIR. (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON. July 1. A Colonial Fleet of forty heavy bombers and 160 Spitfires is ready to take the air. The bombers are capable of dropping a hundred tons of high explosives on Germany daily. I The sponeaneous generosity of the general public throughout the colonies contributed £1,600,000 in a few weeks. Each unit bears the name of the colony presenting it. Ceylon made the largest single gift The funds continue to grow.
