DRUNK IN CHARGE OF CAR
ONEHUNGA SOLICITOR SENT TO GAOL. MAGISTRATE DISBELIEVES STORY ABOUT DOG. AUCKLAND. This Day. An Onehunga solicitor, Martin James Rogers, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment on a charge of intoxication while in charge of a car. Rogers said he had three or four drinks in Auckland during the afternoon and then drove to Onehunga, where he met three cyclists. Swerving to avoid a dog, he collided with one cyclist. The magistrate (Mr Levien) said he disbelieved the story about the dog.
