CARTERTON SALE
LATE RATES MAINTAINED. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd. report as follows on their Carterton Sale yesterday:—A small yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward and was offered to a fair attendance. All classes of stock sold well up to the late rates and a total clearance was effected at the following prices:— Sheep:—Fat ewes, 19s to 21s 3d; fat S.D. ewes, to 28s; m.a. ewes, r.w. Romney rams, to 255; ewe hoggets, to 20s. Cattle: Cows on drop, £l3 to £l4 ss; cows just calved, £7 ss, £8 ss, £lO to £l3 10s; Springing Jersey cows, £6 to £10; heifers, on drop, £9 to £lO 10s; fat cows, £5 to £7 7s 6d; forward cows. £3 10s to £4 16s; store cows, £2 to £3; Jersey bull, to £7 ss; cull cows. 22s to 38s. Pigs:—Weaners (good). 21s to 265: ditto, (medium), 15s to 20s; ditto (small). 6s to 13s; slips. 27s to 30s; store pigs. 32s to 365; light porkers,, 37s to £2 Is; porkers. £2 4s to £2 16s: baconers. £3 14s to £3 18s.
