LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. PROCEEDS FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS At a meeting of the committee of the Little Theatre Society held last evening, notification was received with much regret from Mrs E. J. Rich tc. the effect that she found it impossible to produce the play arranged to be presented on August 13 and 14 next. I. was decided to ask Miss I. M. Kirk to produce a play on those dates. MissKirk has expressed her willingness tc do so. and her previous very considerable experience should ensure another highly successful production for the society. It was reported that everything was in readiness for the production of “Tell Me the Truth” on Monday and Tuesday next. In particular, the producer expressed his great satisfaction in the performances of the cast, and in the assistance given by the stage-manager and others. Sincere thanks were expressed to the many persons, too numerous to specify, who had agreed to lend period furniture for the stage setting, and had helped in other ways.
It is found that the society's decision to apply to patriotic purposes its net profits from the current, season's productions cannot be effected through the Red Cross Society, by reason of the provisions of the Regulations governing the collection of patriotic funds Accordingly, it was found necessary to revise the intention of paying over to the Red Cross Society the profits from “Tell Me the Truth” and it was decided instead to comply with the requirements of the Regulations by paying these profits into the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Fund.
