NATIONAL ANTHEM

TO BE SUNG AT COLLEGE ASSEMBLY. THREE BOARD MEMBERS OPPOSE MOTION. “We have lost sight of God, King and Country for quite a number of years,” stated Mr A. Owen Jones, at a meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors last night when moving that the first verse of the National Anthem be sung at assembly every morning. “The future of the Empire lies with the young people,” observed the chairman, Mr W. R. Nicol. “It is up to us to see that they respect the British flag.” The motion was carried, Messrs T. Hanley, L. T. Daniell and F. C. Daniell voting against it.
