COURSING
HASTINGS CENTENNIAL MEETING. The big coursing meeting' being held at the Longlands Plumpton was advanced a stage further yesterday when the third round of the Cup, first and second rounds of the Purse and one round of the Plate were run off. The weather has been fine, although a cold southerly wind has been experienced. Messrs James and Taylor’s Dainty Footsteps and W. Spring’s Julius Caecar have reached the semi-finals in the Cup, while Messrs Archer Bros.’ Bit-o-Blue and Second Fiddle and Mr J. Ryan’s Glengarry have won courses in the Purse and are expected to run into the finals tomorrow, when the semifinals and finals will be decided. Excellent coursing has been witnessed by a large attendance. Following are the results of the Cup: —EI Gallo 4J beat The Clipper 2J: Bon Ton 9 beat Reminda 44; Dainty Footsteps 64 beat Ballaramaine 24; Matiene Footsteps 5 beat Battleship 2: Betty Micawber beat Young Boston; Royal Desire beat Maximum Facta: Julius Caesar beat Mac's Gift; The Surgeon a bye.
