SOLDIERS HONOURED PRESENTATIONS AT PAHAUTEA (“Times-Age" Special.) A very large attendance of settlers at a social tendered to Sapper Bargh and Private G. McKay in the Pahautea Hall, when Mr B .Frew was M.C. During the evening Mr Corlet presented each soldier with a wristlet watch. The Kahautara Women's Institute presented each with a balaclava, scarf, socks, and mittens. Mrs McKenna making the presentation. The mothers of the two soldiers were presented with a posy. The Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr A. Juno and Miss M. Juno, Private G. Madsen and Miss Corlet. Supper was provided by the ladies of the district. Personal Items.' Mr and Mrs Bailey of Dannevirke have been the guests of Mrs E. Bargh. Miss Esther Barry, Dunedin, is on a visit to her mother, Mrs E. Barry, yesterday. The Bishop of Wellington is visiting Featherston today:. He conducted a service for women this afternoon. This evening he will hold a service for men. W.E.A. Lectures. The W.E.A. lectures are being well attended. Mr A. S. Kilsby is the leader and Mr G. Hoby in secretary. Golf. An eclectic was played by the ladies in Gum Grove yesterday. The results were: A grade, Mrs R. Donald, Mrs Lovegrove 2, Mrs White 3. B grade: Mrs Crack 1, Mrs Jeffrey, and Mrs Knutson 2. Reduced handicap: Mrs Donald. Soldiers’ Dances. In appreciation of the kindness shown to them, soldiers at the Tauherenikau military camp will give a dance in the Anzac Hall. The camp authorities have agreed to presentations being made by the Patriotic Society to soldiers on leave at the dance nere.
