EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS
MEETING IN MASTERTON. GRATIFYING DEVELOPMENT. The preparation of a skeleton organisation for Masterton and the district to function immediately in the event of a state of emergency was developed a stage further when, following the initial meeting held in November last, the Central Executive Co-or-dinating Committee met, under the chairmanship of the Mayor, to receive the reports of the convenors of the various committees appointed. There were present besides the chairman. Messrs Gordon Lee. G. Moore, C. R. Armstrong and J. C. D. Mackley (Masterton County). Crs. A. D. Low, W. Kemp and Mr C. R. Mabson (Masterton Borough). R. H. Whyborn (R.S.A.), M. M. Simpson (Postmaster), Norman Lee (Hospital Board). Senior-Sergeant Doggett (Police), E. W. Cheetham (Mauriceville County), R. C. Miles (Castlepoint County), and the hon secretary. Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith. As a result of the reports submitted and the recommendations adopted, a gratifying development of the scheme was recorded, and the next meeting should see the organisation fully established.
