FEATHERSTON
EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE LIST OF PRIZEWINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) A euchre party and dance was held in the Pihautea Hall when the prizewinners were: —Ladies: Miss Margery Juno, 1; Mrs Juno, 2. Men: Mr S. Fenwick, 1; Mr R. Palmer. 2. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss G. Welsh and Mr L. Everson. Supper was provided. Personal. The funeral of the late Mr J. Flolmes took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon, the Rev. J. T. Holland officiated at the graveside. The late Mr Holmes who was 63 years of age, had spent a number of years doing farm work in Kahutara and Pihautea districts, but owing to ill-health some 12 months ago hq came to live in Featherston where he was appointed borough ranger. The deceased, who was born in Ireland, was highly respected. His wife predeceased him 5 years ago. The pall-bearers at the funeral were: Messrs S. Reid, D. Wilson, S. Snell, and M. Ruka. A farewell dance will be tendered to Messrs J. W .Bargh and G. S. McKay in the Pihautea Hall tonight. Clothing For Refugees. Five boxes containing 144 articles of clothing for refugees were forwarded yesterday to the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild in Wellington by the Mayoress’s sub-committee.
