PATRIOTIC APPEALS

FUTURE POLICY DETERMINED. PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED. Matters of general public interest relating to the raising of patriotic funds were the subject of decisions reached at a conference of the National Patriotic Council. National Patriotic Fund Board and the eleven Provincial Patriotic Councils held in Wellington recently. The points decided upon relating to appeals for patriotic funds were: After the completion of the present Red Cross appeal, no further appeals for the National Fund will be made otherwise than to the provincial councils. which will undertake to provide all funds required by the National Patriotic Fund Board. Provincial councils will be called upon from time to time to contribute to the National Fund Board's requirements, including a reserve for unforseen calls and a reservoir for after eave. In support, of the two national appeals conducted throughout the whole of the Dominion, in many centres commiiiees have been established. quite apart from local patriotic committees, to run these campaigns and some- of the committees so

formed have not disbanded. It has bee: ■ decided that in future, as all appeals! will be made through provincial coun-I ells, that every local committee for, patriotic purposes must bo co-ordinat-ed with the local Patriotic Committee, and work through the latter. This means that committees formed for National Patriotic Fund objects will in future cease to collect for National Patriotic Fund objectives but, by coordination with the local Patriotic Committee, may work with them for any patriotic object. the money so raised to go to Provincial Funds. After the termination of the Red Cross] and Order of St John Appeal there! will be no further appeals on this behalf, as all necessary requirements for! sick and wounded servicemen will be! from the funds raised by this appeal. All organisations acting as collecting agents for patriotic funds are instructed to differentiate, in their advertising. . between their peace-time activities and I their war-time activities. |
