DEFENCE OF EIRE

MR DE VALERA URGES INSTANT ACTION. POSSIBILITY OF INVASION DISCUSSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON. June 24. - Mr de Valera has warned Eire that she must look to her defences. Pointing out that her geographical position did not preclude the possibilities of invasion, he said that if there wai* time, there was little doubt that Eire could make any attempted invasion very unattractive. Nevertheless, she must get her defences organised immediately.

The possibility of Ireland becoming united was mentioned by Dr Little, Unionist member for Belfast, in a speech. He said it was only a matter of days before Eire had to declare for Britain or for Germany. The moment Eire declared for Britain then the north and south must prepare for union.
