ARMISTICE SIGNED
MEETING NEAR ROME ITALIAN TERMS NOT YET DISCLOSED. CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.50 p.m.) ROME. June 24. A communique states: "The Italian and French armistice was signed at 7.15 p.m., Italian summer time, on June 24. on the outskirts of Rome. Marshal Badoglio signed for Italy and General Huntziger for France. At 7.35 p.m., Count Ciano informed the Reich and consequently hostilities will cease at 1.35 a.m.. Italian summer time, on June 25. "The armistice was signed after four hours’ discussion. The terms will not be announced immediately.”
BORDEAUX DECISION (Received This Day. 12.50 p.m.) BORDEAUX, June 24. The French Council of Ministers decided to order General Huntziger to sign the French-Italian Armistice. FRENCH AMBASSADOR REMAINING IN LONDON. (Received This Day. 1.15 p.m.) LONDON. June 24. It is authoritatively stated that M. Corbin (French Ambassador) and his staff are remaining in London ■ with full diplomatic status.
