MASTERTON STABLEFORD COMPETITION. The following are the results of a stableford competition played by the members of the Masterton Golf Club on Saturday:— A grade: S. A. Mannering, 40; G. Falloon. 34; J. Coom, 32; J. G. Bee. 31. B grade: W. Kummer, 34; L. Pither, 34; A. Wardell, 32. RIVERSIDE RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY. The second bogey round of the captain's trophy was played on Saturday by members of the Riverside Golf Club. The best cards handed in were the following:— Men: N. Everett. 3 up. lan Coleman, C. Walker. 1 down. J. Wakelin, Brian Jones, 2 down, T. U. Wellington. 3 down. Ladies: Miss Wiggins, 3 down. Mrs Naan, 2 down. Mrs Palamontain, Miss J. Dixon, 3 down. TINUI ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. C. FAULKNOR WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. (“Times-Age" Special.) The annual golf tournament organised by the Tinui Golf Club was held during the weekend. There was a large number of entries, all clubs in the surrounding district being represented. The greens were in great order and the fairways were carrying a good sole of grass, enabling the players to return some good scores. The best card handed in for the qualifying round was that of C. Faulknor (Masterton), 70, this being a course record. The results of the various events are as follow: — Tinui Championship. First round: C. Faulknor beat J. Thornton; L. Connolly beat N. Whiteman; F. Tatham beat A. Owens; E. Henderson beat F. Ashworth. Second round: C. Faulknor beat L. Connolly; E. Henderson beat F. Tatham. Final. —C. Faulknor beat E. Henderson. Second Group. First round: E. R. Maunsell beat K. Duncan; F. Bartholomew beat I. Cripps at the 24th; B. Wallace beat F. Candy; C. Bannister beat D. T. Herbert. Second round: F. Bartholomew beat E. R. Maunsell; C. Bannister beat B. Wallace. Final. —C. Bannister beat F. Bartholomew. Third Group. First round: W. Batty beat Street; R. Baker beat J. Dalziell; C. Maunsell beat J. Barton; D. Costello beat H. Carson.
Second round: R. Baker beat W. Batty; C. Maunsell beat D. Costello. Final: R. Baker beat C. Maunsell. Fourth Group.
First round: Christianson beat Innes; J. Bennett beat Meredith; E. Horner beat Bellis; T. Langdon beat I. Balfour. Second round: Christianson beat Bennett; Langdon beat Horner. Final: Christianson beat Langdon. Winners of competitions run in con-j junction with other events were: First medal, C. Faulknor; first bogey, R. Baker: stableford, E. Henderson; fourball bogey. E. Henderson and C. Faulknor; second bogey. C. Bannister. Results of flight competition finals (for players defeated in the first round of the groups): First flight, J. Thornton beat S. Divers; second flight, G. F. Candy beat I. Cripps; third flight, H. Carson beat A. Street; fourth flight. Bellis beat M. Innes. The proceeds of the tournament will be given to local patriotic funds and the committee is most grateful to all who attended and made the tournament the success it was. The proceeds from the tournament amounted to £lO 13s and donations and the sale of golf balls brought in £l3. making a total of £23 13s.
