WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ST MATTHEW’S BEAT MASTERTON. INTERESTING PLAY LAST NIGHT. In the first round of the Wairarapa Badminton Association's B grade in-ter-club competition, St Matthew's beat Masterton by 6 matches 158 points, to 2 matches 101 points, in a match played at the Masterton court last night. The standard of play was good, and several interesting games were witnessed. Supper was provided by the Masterton ladies’ committee. Detailed results are (St Matthew’s players mentioned first in every instance): Combined doubles: Miss N. Richards and C. J. Carle beat Miss E. Madsen and N. Faulknor. 24-21; Mrs Ninnes and N. Ninnes beat Mrs P. Feltham and E. Holmwood, 24-7; Miss G. Baird and S. L. Hatch lost to Miss O. Eddy and D. Young, 13-21; Miss B. Boyd and W. Harrington beat Miss M. Gaynor and G. V. Buick, 21-4.
Ladies’ doubles: Misses Richards and Boyd beat Mrs Feltham and Miss Madsen. 21-12; Mrs Ninnes and Miss Baird beat Misses Gaynor and Eddy, 21-2. Men’s doubles: Messrs Carle and Ninnes lost to Faulknor and Holmwood, 6-21; Hatch and Harrington beat Young and Buick, 13-21.
