Ottawa.—Indians in Canada are no longer a vanishing race, according to the Indian Affairs Branch of the Department of Mines and Resources. A census taken by the Department last summer reveals that there are 118,416 Indians in the Dominion as compared with 112,510 in 1934, when the previous census was taken. The latest count shows 59,767 male Indians and 58,649 females.
