CRASH WHILE STUNTING
TRAGEDY OF “COBBER” KAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, June 20. “It was a tragedy that such a fine airman should be killed when he was stunting,” said a colleague who witnessed the crash of the New Zealand ace. Flying Officer “Cobber” Kain which occurred while a plane was waiting on the airfield to take him back to England. “He came into the mess at breakfast time and said he wanted to do a few stunts before returning.” the officer said. “He went to his fighter, and we watched .spellbound as he did some double loops. He then tried to loop when his machine seemed to be only 100 ft from the ground, and he nearly did it, but one wing touched the ground as he was turning and in a second the machine crashed.”
