“TOMMY” GUNS

PURCHASE FROM UNITED STATES AND MANUFACTURE IN BRITAIN. PROVISION OF HAND-GRENADES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. June 19. The Minister of Supply. Mr Morrison, stated in a reply to questions in the House of Commons, that steps had been taken to purchase from the United States, a large number of sub-ma-chine-guns, known as “Tommy” guns, and also to manufacture them in Britain. Steps, said Mr Morrison, were also being taken to manufacture on an extensive scale small hand-grenades for use again invaders from the air, and also heavy hand-grenades with short time fuses for use against tanks.
