FRENCH AFRICA

SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS REPORTED.

DECLARATION OF LOYALTY FROM TUNISIA.

(Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) BORDEAUX. June 20

Havas Agency reports from Algiers state that French troops in North Africa have made contact with enemy troops on the Tunis-Libyan border. The French Air Force in Africa has been very active, successfully bombing Tripoli and Cagliari. Italian raids on French territory have met with little success. A Havas Agency message from Tunis states that the elected representatives of the French population of Tunisia sent a message "to Marshal Petain: “Tunisia cannot be dissociated from France. We desire to help to defend France and the French Empire by all possible means.”
