WEDDING

PERRY—SPRING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very pretty wedding of interest to Eketahuna and district took place at the Sacred Heart Church. Eketahuna. on June 1, when Izabel Mary, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Spring, Nireaha, was married to Keith Raymond, only son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Perry, Rongomai. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Father E. Sweeney. Miss Muriel Smith played the wedding music, and during the signing of the register sang Gounod’s “Ave Maria.”

Escorted by her father the bride looked charming in a dress of magnolia satin made on slim-fitting lines, featuring long tight-fitting sleeves with mitred cuffs and heart-shaped neckline, with a stiffened medici collar. The train was also trimmed with orange blossom. The veil, kindly lent by Mrs Maurice Spring, was held in place by a halo of miniature arum lilies, and fell to form a second train. Miss Margaret Murphy, Napier, and Miss Betty Perry (sister of the bridegroom) were the bridesmaids and were attired in picture frocks of coral pink net and lace organdie over taffeta with full puffed sleeves and also featuring a heart-shaped neck. They wore matching tulle shoulder veils caught on the top of the head with a carnation. Gold necklaces (the gift of the groom) and gold shoes completed their toilet. The bridegroom was ably attended by Mr Brian Spring (brother of the bride) as best man, and Mr Mervyn Tomlinson was groomsman. About 80 guests were entertained at a reception in the Odd Fellows’ Hall. Mrs Spring received the guests wearing a smart navy tailored coat over a model frock of Burgundy wool marccain with navy accessories. Her hat of peach bloom was trimmed with ostrich tops. She was assisted by Mrs Perry who wore a model frock of forest green wool georgette, peach bloom hat with matching accessories and a fur stole.

The beautiful bouquets carried by the bridal party were the artistic work and gift of Miss I. Perry, Feilding (aunt of the bridegroom) and the sweet little posies carried by the bride and bridegroom’s mothers were the gift of Mrs H. Nordell, Atea.

When Mr and Mrs Perry left on their honeymoon tour of the North Island by car, the bride wore an attractive ensemble of Guava self-strip-ed wool georgette, the cape being trimmed with black astrakhan, with accessories to tone.

The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs Spring and iced by’ Mr J. A. Taylor. Many useful wedding gifts, including cheques, were received.

Among the guests were visitors from Feilding, Wellington, Masterton, Wai-tara'-and Opunake. The future home of Mr and Mrs Perry will be in Eketahuna.
