SILK JERSEY
A FAVOURITE IN HOLLYWOOD.
Silk jersey continues as a top favourite in Hollywood, especially for dinner gowns. Barbara Stanwyck, co-star-ring with Fred Mac Murray in Paramount's “Remember the Night,” wears an exclusive Magnin model of light blue jersey with a high-waisted, draped shoulder treatment. A narrow belt of the material ties about the moulded waistline, and the skirt falls in 'bias lines with fullness centred in back through the use of godets. Barbara Stanwyck, a native of Brooklyn, New York, lost her parents when she was a mere toddler, and was brought up in an orphanage. When she was thirteen she was sent out to private homes, where, to earn her keep, she had to help with housekeeping. As she grew older she took various jobs—switchboard operator, salesgirl, etc. Then came the day when she took a crack at pattern cutting, and missed. So she decided to become an actress, and did.
