OPEN TITLE. SARAZEN AND LITTLE TIE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright CLEVELAND, June 9. Gene Sarazen and Lawson Little tied for the American open golf championship with 287. They will play off on Sunday. The Australian J. Ferrier’s scores were 41-37-78 and 38-37-75, a total of 300. Ferrier lost the medal for the best amateur to Wilford Wehrle, who scored 297. Sam Snead, with an excellent chance of winning, failed completely over the last 18 holes, scoring 81 for a total of 295. E. D. Oliver, who also tied with Sarazen and Little, was disqualified for starting late. Sixty-six players at 153 or lower qualified for the open title. Ferrier, with 147, tied with Revolta, Hines, Matz, Armour and three others.
