Mr F. E. Sutton was re-elected chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board unopposed at the annual meeting of the board this week.

Hotel Midland (Masterton) guests yesterday were Messrs W. V. Dyer, W. I. Deavoll, J. Miller, Bird, Dorin (Wellington), T. R. Eadges (Invercargill), C. Lee (Palmerston North).

The funeral of the late Mr Joseph Arthur took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich conducted the services at the chapel and at the graveside. Messrs C. E. Gibbs, R. Pinkney, J. Miller, R. Ferguson, A. L. Bennett and B. Hargood acted as pall-bearers. Today the following are guests at the Prince of Wales Hotel: —Messrs L. G. Ross (Inglewood), W. A. Krogh. W. Ludvicson (Napier). A. Langstone, A. B. McLauchlan, F. G. Hood, S. Maslen, J. Peart, A. Noble, H. D. Curline (Wellington), H. Mclntosh, L. Mclntosh, E. Whiteman (Greytown), Aulsebrook (Eketahuna), G. W. Tomlin (Carterton).

The death has occurred of Percy David Gower Jones, Collector of Customs at Nelson for the past two years, states a Press Association message. He commenced with the department in Christchurch, and later worked at Timaru and Wanganui. For 20 years he was stationed at Auckland. He leaves a widow and two daughters. Miss Adrienne Jones, Wellington, and Miss Brenda Jones, Auckland.
