PERSONAL ITEMS ("Times-Age” Special.) -, Mr A. Fleming has returned to New Plymouth Air Training School after having been the guest of Mr and Mrs J. B. Smith, Forest Flat. Mr and Mrs J.' Fleming have returned to Palmerston North after visitnig their daughter, Mrs J. B. Smith. Mr Bruce Berney, en route from New Plymouth to Blenheim Air Training School, spend the weekend visiting relatives and friends in the district
Corporal A. Dawson spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs T. Smith. Mr and Mrs E. Hutchings stayed over the weekend with Mrs Hutchings parents, Mr and Mrs E. E. Goss, of Nireaha. Mr Brian Spring spent the weekend with his parents, at Nireaha being a guest at the Spring-Perry wedding. Mrs A. Leach, Castle Hill, has been a patient in the Pahiatua Hospital. Master Alan Seymour, son of Mr and Mrs E. Seymour, Nga Puka, met with a painful mishap recently when a stick pierced the roof of his mouth, necessitating the insertion of several stitches. Mr Alex Lessels, Nelson, is spending a holiday as the guest of Mr Rolls. Mr D. Neill was called to Wellington at the weekend owing to the serious illness of his father. Miss Lorna Boustead, Masterton, is staying with her sister, Mrs L. Cooper. — Patriotic Effort. On Tuesday evening a card party is being held in the hall, the proceeds from which will be devoted to the funds for the sick and wounded. Successful Ball. The Tiraumea Football Club and Ladies’ Hockey Club combined to hold a ball on Friday evening, the profits being handed to the Sick and Wounded Fundi Te Tail's Orchestra provided music for dancing, extras being played by Mrs Geof Houlbrooke, Miss Dora Kent and members of the orchestra. During an interval Mr N. Hislop made presentations on behalf of the Football Club to Messrs George Higginson and Bernie Bellsh'aw, who were recently married. Mr Hislop also made presentations to Mesdames Bellshaw and McDonald on behalf of the Ladies’ Hockey team. Mr Graham Richardson announced that the sum of £3 14s would be available to the Sick and Wounded Fund. Dancing then continued until the early hours of the morning.
