GOLF COMPETITIONS SINCLAIR-THOMPSON CUP. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Golf Club held several competitions over the weekend. The SinclairThompson Cup was won by M. Hume with S. Thomas second. In the ladies’ rose bowl competition Mrs Herangi was the winner.

Charteris beat J. Carter, J. Rewai beat J. Carter. S. Thomas beat G. Sutherland. Personal Items. Mr W. Didsbury, Wellington, was a weekend visitor to his brother, Mr D. Didsbury. Mrs Priest is visiting Wellington.
Mr and Mrs Burke, Wellington, were the guests of Mr and Mrs Bird at the weekend. Private Cliff Hume, who is visiting his home, is at present laid aside with a severe attack of influenza.
Mr G. Munro has returned to the Lower Hutt.
Mr and Mrs Allen, Lower Hutt, were visitors here at the weekend.
Mrs Dugald Sutherland has returned from the South Island and is at present the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs Sutherland, Burnside. Mr and Mrs A. Te Maari have taken up their residence in this district.
Mrs T. Te Maari is visiting relatives in the Wanganui district. Mr W. Naera, Gladstone, who has been in the district for the past week, has returned to Gladstone.
Red Cross Appeal
A meeting of the local patriotic committeee was held last evening when final arrangements in connection with the Red Cross appeal were dealt with and finalised. The produce stall will be in charge of Mrs D. J. Mclntosh. Several residents of the district are givingdonations of meat, vegetables, etc, for disposal at the stall. Prizes will be given for the euchre tournament, and novelty dances. The music will be supplied by Te Tati’s orchestra. Cottage Destroyed By Fire. A small cottage on the property of Mr Mikaere, Te Hopai, was totally destroyed by fire recently. The building was owned by a resident of Wellington.
