SICK AND WOUNDED
FUND MOUNTING UP. WELLINGTON AT HEAD OF LIST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. June 3. The national total of the Sick. Wounded and Distress Fund reached £167.840 this afternoon, when it was expected that miscellaneous payments would bring the grand total to more than £171.000. This announcement was made today by the honorary Dominion organiser and treasurer for the fund. Major J. Abel, who is visiting Christchurch District totals are: Wellington, £44.380; Canterbury. £32.200; Auckland. £28.500; Dunedin. £22.000; Napier, £15,900; Palmerston North. £10.160; Taranaki, £9500; , Gisborne, £2000; Marlborough, £1700;- West Coast, £l5OO.
Major Abel said he had been advised that £2OOO had arrived in Wellington today from Southland, and the result of the Nelson appeal was unknown. In addition some of the figures in the other districts totals were now three days old. and might be altered by sums which had since been remitted.
