MILITARY BALL
BIG GATHERING ANTICIPATED. PROCEEDS FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS Invitations have been issued by the executive committee for the thirteenth annual Military Ball to be held in the Municipal Hall, Masterton. on Wednesday. June 19. Dancing will start at 8.15 p.m. The ball is sponsored by the officers, n.c.o.’s and men of C squadron, W.E.C. mounted rifles, and C and D companies, Hawke’s Bay Regiment and executive of the Wairarapa R.S.A., assisted by the Masterton Territorial Association, and the Masterton District Patriotic Committee.
A capable ladies’ committee under Mrs C. E. Rogers is in charge of the supper arrangements, which will be a feature of the ball, and with music byFrank Pool's Blue River Dance Band and Jack Barnes's Rhythm Boys patrons are assured of an enjoyable night’s entertainment. No effort is being spared by the executive committee to make the ball the social function of the year and a special invitation has been extended to officers, n.c.o.’s and men of the Trentham and Tauherenikau camps to be present on this occasion. The whole of the net proceeds are to be devoted to patriotic funds, and quite apart from those attached to his Majesty's forces, who will be present in large numbers, the committee anticipate that the function will receive the support of dance enthusiasts from every part of the Wairarapa District.
Inquiries are continually coming in for invitations and those desirous of patronising the ball and who have not yet received invitations may obtain them on application to the joint secretaries, Sergeants A. H. Green and O. C. Cardno, or members of the executive committee.
