“ACTIVE CRIMINAL”
MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR 18 MONTHS. THEFT OF MONEY & GOODS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day, Sentencing Norman Stanley Buchanan, 24, to eighteen months’ imprisonment for stealing money and goods in Wellington, Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., said the man was regarded by the police as one of the most active criminals in New Zealand and an absolute menace. Accused, who recently came up from the south, entered the Alexandra and Bethany Hospitals by fire escapes and went through the rooms. He also wont through the Harris Hospital. On a charge of breaking and entering and theft at Washdyke, he was remanded until June 7.
