AUSTRALIA’S WAR BILL
LARGE AND INCREASING APPROPRIATIONS. TOTAL NOW OVER £150,000,000. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) < CANBERRA, This Day. The House of Representatives passed Bills providing for the expenditure for war and defence purposes of £77,740,000 of which £68,740,000 will be borrowed and the remaining nine millions appropriated from revenue. The Federal Treasurer (Mr Spender) said the Bills covered commitments up to December 31, but he could give no guarantee that further appropriations would not be necessary before that date. Mr Spender said that with these Bills, the total authorisations by Parliament for war and special defence expenditure amounted to £153,000.000.
