WEDDING

BRYANT—CHILDS. At the Anglican Church, Brightwater, Nelson, on May 7, the marriage took place of Clare, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs B. H. Childs, Wairarapa, and William, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Bryant, Brightwater. The ceremony was performed by Canon Bloyce, and Miss Max was at the organ. The church was decorated by friends of the bride, with bowls of autumn chrysanthemums and African marigolds.

The bride wore a charming gown of heavy ivory slipper satin. The bodice was high-waisted, with heart sipped neckline, and the circular folds of the skirt formed a train. Her matching tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of flowers. She carried a bouquet of cream chrysanthemums, lilies, and maidenhair fern. Included in the bouquet were sprigs of white heather brought from Scotland by a. friend.

The. bride was attended by her two sisters. Misses Patricia and Judith Childs, as bridesmaids. They were gowned alike in frocks of corn-colour-ed ripple georgette, made with all over rucked bodices, heart shaped necklines, and full swing skirts. They wore bandeaux of golden chrysanthemums in their hair and carried bouquets of golden tinted flowers. They also wore pearl necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. Messrs Cedric Irvine and Robert Holcroft attended the bridegroom as best man and groomsman respectively, while Messrs John Childs and John Bryant acted as ushers at the church. After the ceremony an informal reception was held at the home of the bridegroom’s parents, the guests being received by Mrs Childs and Mrs Bryant. The bride’s mother wore a tailored frock of rust, with squirrel cape, and Mrs Bryant wore a black ensemble relieved with white. They both carried bouquets in autumn tones.

Mr and Mrs Bryant later left on a motor tour to the glaciers, the bride wearing a model wine-coloured suit, with black fox roferes. Her accessories were dove-grey in colour.
