Mrs G. C. Williams, Heretaunga, is visiting Masterton. Mrs W. L. Free. Pownall Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs J. Broad and family, Upper Plain, who have been spending a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach have returned home.

Mrs C. J. Williams and family. Masters Crescent, Masterton, have returned from a fortnight’s holiday spent in Wellington. The Misses Kummer, who have been staying with Mrs P. Kummer, Kummerstein, have returned to Masterton.

The death occurred in Wellington on Sunday of a pioneer in New Zealand, Mrs E. McDonagh, who had spent 85 of the 88 years of her life in the Dominion.

Mrs Hassell, who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs R. Garland, Nursery Road, Masterton, will leave this week on a visit to Queensland, Australia.

The death occurred on Monday of Mrs Isabella Morris, of Hataitai. Mrs Morris, who was the wife of Mr Edward Morris, Junr., was the daughter of the late Mr Charles Lett, Wellington and Kaitoke, Mrs Morris was born in 1865. She leaves a husband and one son, Mr Charles Morris, of Hataitai. Her sisters are Mrs Margarite Whitt and Mrs Gladys McLauchland, both of Wellington, and Mrs Rose Lawrence, Napier. Her brothers are Messrs C. Lett, Pahiatua; D. Lett, Auckland; Edward Lett, Pahiatua; W. Lett, Whangarei; P. Lett, Foxton; Harold Lett, Ccssnock, New South; Wales; and Donald Lett, Sydney, New South Wales.

Mrs Mary Ann Jarvis, Hastings, who had the distinction of being the oldest New Zealand-born resident in the district, died on Monday night. It was just two months ago that she celebrated her ninety-fifth birthday. A daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Pilcher, •Wellington, she was born in the capital and when a child she and her parents moved to Hawke’s Bay, living in Clive. Since her marriage in Clive she had lived in Hastings. There are left 10 children, Messrs David, Peter, Jack and Stephen Jarvis, and. Mesdames C. Marshall (Auckland), E. Brandon (Okawa), G. Wall and F. Corby (Hastings); and two stepsons, Messrs Frederick and George Ulph.
