GREYTOWN

WOMEN’S DIVISION

CONCERT AND PICTURES. ("Times-Age” Special.) The concert and the Centennial picture screening held in the Greytown Town Hall by the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was a great success, the hall being packed. The first part of the programme was contributed to by well known artists. Messrs A. Stuart and Johns played popular airs on the bagpipes. Mr H. Keenan (Carterton) rendered two songs, ac. companied at the piano by Mrs H. G. Carter. Misses Fay Ross and Beth Stuart danced the Highland Fling accompanied by Mr A. Stuart on the pipes. Miss Askew sang very pleasingly. She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs T. Gold. Miss Joan Bouzaid and Mr W. Brown gave a much appreciated exhibition of tap dancing. Mr V. Boyd was at the piano.

A party of Maoris from Papawai rendered several items and evidence of their popularity was shown by the applause they received. Miss Whiti Whlti gave a graceful rendering of the poi dance. At the interval Mrs Beu, president ol the branch, thanked all those who had helped in any way to make the gathering the success it was. Mrs Beu specially thanked Mr W. G. K. Wiggins for the showing of the films and also Messrs Burns and W. H. Saunders, Masterton, and M. Greathead for their valued assistance. The films shown were the Centennial celebrations at Greytown and travel and topical views taken in New Zealand. Mr J. F. Thompson gave a running description of the films. Mr R. Manihera was the winner of the box of sweets. The sweet stall did excellent business.

Mi- G. Robinson acted as stage manager. The proceeds from this effort will amount to about £4O.
