CARS COLLIDE

ACCIDENT IN CARTERTON. ONE DRIVER FACES COURT CHARGE. An accident occurred in High Street South Carterton, on Saturday night. A collision occurred between a car driven by Mr Gustave Meurk, of Mauriceville, and another car driven by Mr Wishart. of Masterton. Both cars were badly damaged. Two passengers, Messrs Johansen and Geo Dean, of Masterton, were injured. Medical assistance was given by Dr R. N. Campbell. Mr Dean, of Tararua Street, was admitted to the Masterton hospital, suffering from cuts, bruises and concussion. His condition today was reported to be satisfactory. Meurk later appeared before Mr W. C. M. Sorenson. J.P., charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle. The accused was remanded to appear at the Carterton Court on June 12. Bail was allowed, a condition being that defendant did not drive a car in the meantime.
