NEW NOTE OF HOPE
SOUNDED IN THE FRENCH PRESS
ENEMY RUSH PRACTICALLY STEMMED.
POWERFUL ALLIED ARMIES ON GERMAN FLANKS.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 26.
A new note of confidence is noticeable in the French Press, although it is emphasised that the position is still precarious.
Mr Charles Morice, in the “Petit Parisien,” says: “The German onrush is practically stemmed everywhere. The real change came about on May 22, but we are still far from recovery.” M. Leon Blum, in the “Populaire,” says: “Instead of launching a frontal attack, the Allies have massed powerful armies on the enemy flank. One is intact and the other fresh and ready for battle. My reason, not my faith, tells me that they hold every possibility of victory.”
